Summerlight and Shadow Wind Stop For a Rest

Shadow Wind: I trot beside my several-minute-younger sister at an easily pace through the forest, our ears were perked catching every little sound, since we knew that being two fillies traveling alone was dangerous. My head was held high proudly like that of a lead mare while hers was arched gracefully. We slow down to a stop when we come to a river to rest for the first time in three days, and lower our head drinking deeply but stay alert. Our young and petite yet strong bodies were coated in a thin layer of sweat from traveling for so long without stopping. I raise my elegant head and look around as my sister, Summerlight, begins to graze beside me. Even though my sister is wiser then me, I still take my job as her elder sister very seriously. I snort tossing my black forelock out of my eyes and start grazing on the sweet grass.

Summerlight: I stop grazing and raise my head and looking around with my ears perked. It was now pitch black in the forest aside from the few spots where moonlight was shinning down through the trees. The forest surrounding us was silent except for the sound of the river flowing behind me. I sigh, I liked that it was just my sister and I but it would be nice if we could travel with other horses or join a herd. I walk quietly over to a willow tree and lay down under it as Shadowwind lays down beside me and we lay our heads on each others backs quickly falling alseep. My sister's midnight black coat blended in perfectly with the darkness making it look like I was resting my head on thin air.

The two fillies jerked their heads up, their sleep disturbed by the sound of hooves pounding against the wet morning ground. Shadowwind and Summerlight quickly and silently climbed to their feet and stood side by side as still as statues with their ears perked to catch every sound, the young filles were ready to fight or run for their lives. They watched closely as a speck in the distance formed into a large back stallion getting closer and closer to them with each passing second.

Summerlight took a step back laying her flat againt her head while Shaodwwind just stood ridgid watching the stallion walk toward them. The two young fillies watched the black horse closely, ready to run or fight at the first sign of aggression or hostility.

The two three years old look at each other and the younger of the two, Summerlight, stepped up since she was the wiser of the two "Hello. I am Summerlight and this is my elder sister Shadowwind." The young snow white filly bowed gracefully in respect and stood back up as her midnight black sister mearly nodded her head since her pride did not allow her to bow to any horse.
