Sparta's mud caked sides were heaving as she splashed through the swamp, eyes darting around nervously. The wind howled, sending sprays of muddy water onto her back. Small legs flashed, her breathing labored. Was he still behind her? Whoever it was, it was a swamp master and wanted a little lost dog like herself to a. eat or b. use for his own personal pleasure. The horrible smell of death and decay, along with stench of old mud slithered up her nostrils.


Fear clogged her mind, images of glowing red eyes filled her vision. Swamp water stung her eyes, blurring everything. Her paws ached, bolts of exhaustion fired through her short legs.

Her owner had gone with his girlfriend. Sparta had watched the terrifying abuse after she had broken up with him. She had ran to go try to find help, but headed the wrong way. The last thing she heard from the girl was a 'No, no! Don't do it!' And it broke the young dogs heart, no not the yell but the gun shot that followed the cry.

Pain. Pain shot up her leg and into her chest, following a planned trail into her skull.It broke her vision, a yelp bursting from her dry throat. Claws and teeth tore at her shoulder, sending her face first into the inch deep mud and water. The demon like dog was above her, fluorescent white teeth inches from her muzzle. "W-who are you?" Sparta gasped in pain, struggling. "It won't ma-" Suddenly, the dog flew off her, and another dog was on top of him. There was snapping,snarling, whining and yelping. But soon, the dog that wanted to hurt her fell silent. It surprised her, her rescuer was a smaller. But she had quit believing size meant strength when she took down her brother in a play fight. Blood stained her coat, mud caking on the wound. Her shoulder was searing, blood seeping into the mud. "Who are you?"




(OK. So who ever replies to this should be the rescuer. And in case any one was wondering, the guy didn't kill the girl, the shot was for the dog)

Sparta followed, limping. "Thanks." She sighed. The dog owed him. He saved her, he offered help. Blue eyes faced the ground as she followed. "So... why do you live in a swamp?" She asked, licking her shoulder.

Sparta nodded, keeping her nose at his tail tip. "My master was abusing his girlfriend after she broke up with him on a picinic, I ran to get help but went the wrong way. Then there was a gun shot." She looked at him. "I paniced, should of taken the road but thought I could get away and get help faster that way."

Sparta sighed, plopping down and gently tugging a small piece of meat. "I wonder if she is still alive." She said aloud, chewing. "Why do you live in a place like this when you can move to the city, where there is a lot better food?"

"Not kibble, left over turkey, steak, prok, hot dogs, chicken." She said, shivering at the thought. "I just told you, I ra away to go find help." Sparta sighed, looking at the raw meat in almost utter disgust.

She kept chewing, wincing at the tough meat. "I guess it isn't so bad. IT has a bloody taste though." She sighed, swallowing. Sparta looked around, taking another bite. (Soooooooooooooo Braindead.)
