Till Death Do Us Part...Part All Too Soon...

Maricela a mare of gold with a heart of lead walked slowly into the cemetary. Her silver streaked creme mane hung down her neck limply and her tail never onced swished. Her blue eyes were cast downward as she made her way past graves toward a fresh lump of black dirt. She was rigid and on the brink of histeria as her white hooves hit the ground, picking their way over trampled grass and churned dirt. The sky was grey and gloomy above her, clouds looming high in the sky. Gangly trees with near bare branches stood tall and hunched over, their arms reaching out to try and snag the sad ignorant mare. Maricela stopped next a flat pile of black dirt under a apple tree and stared at it. Weeds were growing from the rich soil that covered her one and only love. She ripped them out angrily.

A crow called out in the distance and a thin fog started to roll in as the mare stood over the grave with glass eyes. The mare of gold with a heart of lead lived up to her appearnce. Never once did she cry until the dreadfulnight her mate collasped. Even then it was a small tear shed. He was the only stallion ever capable of melting the lead heart that beat in her chest and destroy the chains she kept it locked with. He made her heart thump wildly and her blue eyes blaze love unlike anytime before.

The night he died was horrific. They had only been mates for a few months and Maricel was carrying his foals. She was gifted with twins by the great Aphrodite. Simple holding eachother one misty night, a large stallion trespassed onto their land. "Oh Decaprio.." Murmured She as the stallion drew near and dared Decaprio to fight. The stallion was a demon and killed Decaprio in a bloody mess right infront of her eyes. The stallion laughed at the pitiful fight and left Maricel alone and devestated.

The mare of gold with a heart of lead bowed her elegant head and said a silent prayer and good bye to her soul mate, her wordless love raising into the air to the sky. She bit her lip trying to hold back the tears that never fell before but failed. She crumpled to her knees and cried. Steady streams of tears pouring from her liquid blue eyes and down her nose to the dirt, soaking it through. She cried out loudly, her voice cracking, "Why?! Why did you leave me Decaprio?!" she screamed as her heart clenched, becoming the hard lead again. She knew Decaprio loved her so much to fight back. He died trying.

After crying for hours upon his grave, Maricel stood and shook loose the black dirt. Her face streaked with tears and her blue eyes blooshot, she whispered, "I love you." her words slipping from her mouth and floating say in the breeze. She began walking away, her bulging stomach carrying the proof of her mate's love with her. The mare of gold with a lead heart entered the foggy treeline, leaving her mate to rest in peace forever more.
