Oncus was outraged. He’d been like this all morning, really. Of course on the day of his 5th year anniversary of being king, there was an execution of a Rebel that had been found working as a servant boy. The child was no older than fifteen! Oncus had no problem with executing the older ones—they knew what they were doing and were making a conscious effort to dismantle the soundly established Kingdom. However, the younger ones were simply following orders from their elders, and rarely knew exactly what they were doing. Being very familiar with the Rebel Orders, the king had the idea that the children were trying to prove their worth to their Ace and Spade—both of whose reputation was not the best. Oncus sighed thickly and tapped his fingers on the armrest of his throne, crown sitting somewhat lopsided on his head as he tilted his head and rested his cheek on his fist.

It just wasn’t right, the Rebel Orders. How cruel could one nation be? Their women were slaves, practically, and their children were at risk of dying (of course, not the Spade’s children, as they would be automatic heirs to the throne) if they were seen by the palace guards. Oncus much preferred the Kingdom Rules over the Rebel Orders. But of course it was that way—he had established the rules and enforced them with an iron grip, but he never strayed from the path of justice. He admitted he was at fault sometimes (not often, but yes, sometimes), and always tried to make the right decisions even if the results would be damaging to himself. Sighing, Oncus decided he’d go find his wife, Seresa, and talk to her. They always had shared their problems with one another, and Oncus decided now was a time that he needed his wife’s advice and comfort.

Cairlee, more commonly referred to as Lee, was petting the velvety muzzle of her black stallion, Abacus. He had recently bred one of the Rebels’ top mares, and their foal was on the way—one that, if it was a colt, was to be trained by her and set up for the Rebel Guard. Abacus had been known to sire fantastic foals, but his gene-pool was not necessarily the best. So far, he’d sired seventeen fillies. Not a single colt. However, one of his top fillies bred was now a part of the Rebel Guard. The only filly, in fact, to ever make it to the Rebel Guard, and now the only mare there. Her first name had actually been Twinkle, but shortly after was changed to Agrippa. Agrippa had taken a liking to Lee’s husband, but Lee wasn’t sure how well her husband liked the young mare back. However, Cairlee definitely liked Agrippa and, despite the disapproval of her husband, often spent her time bettering the young mare by training her in jumping and endurance for short-distance running, something the Rebel Guard used very often in their less-than-guerilla fighting tactics.

Smiling, Cairlee decided she was going to go out for a ride, ignoring the fact that her husband had told her to stay put in her room until their next moves against the Kingdom was placed. After being married and sensually involved with Belei, she’d officially lost all fear of him in her, though he still did cause her physical pain sometimes. Mounting her black Friesian stallion, Cairlee took the bridle in her hands and steered the horse to the grounds where she trained most of the horses and decided she was going to jump him a bit. Belei could come and yell at her if he wanted to—she was on a horse, and could easily trample him if she wanted to (not that she ever would). With that, Cairlee and Abacus began their jumping “lesson.”
