Nikita gave out a shrill call as she galloped full speed ahead into the forest. She was free at last! It took most of the energy out of her but she was free. She slowed down to a trot and looked around. She had no idea where she was going but she didn't care as long as she was away from the man and his long stick that had hurt her. She looked at her flank, she was bleeding and covered in welts from the whip. she shook her head tired. Oh how she hated humans, for her whole life she's lived with them and all they've done to her was cause her pain and suffereing. She started to walk out into the open and came across another ranch. Her ears immediatly went back but she was just so tired. She lied down by one of the near paddocks and fell asleep almost instantly

i looked over to the horse with a small black filly beside me name Midnight Streak...
i went over carefully.. "hey there girl... wow your a very pretty mare" i looked at her cream coat and brownish mane she was a very beautiful mare...
Midnight nudged Nikita and whinned

Nikita opened her eyes too see a human standing over her, startled she qucikly stood on her feet and stared at it her ears pinned back

Midnight back away and hid behind me scared.. i kneeled down and huged the three month old filly.."shhh, it;s ok, she won't hurt you... i think she was just treated badly by humans can't you see the marks on her lovely coat?"
i had long brown hair and steel blue eyes...
the filly nodded and went over "Leo, not bad.. she good, look after me" said the filly walking towards Nikita and nudgeing her gently

Nikita narrowed her eyes and looked at the filly and looked back at Leo, she didn't look like she could hurt her so NIkita decided to stay put for now. She shook her long brown mane and shifted her weight, the dried blood on her coat started to get uncomfortable

i walked over and stroked her face..."there we go, now how about we get that blood off you and clean your wounds?" i said as i began running my hand down her neck gently careful not to spook her...
" her name Leo, me Midnight Streak" said the filly smiling and troting around her.. i sat down and laughed as she did it...

Nikita flinched when Leo started to touch her but she didn't move she looked at the little filly "I'm Nikita" she said quickly

"nice to meet you" we both said and i looked up to her and stood up again.. "c'mon being covered in blood won't do you anything, so there's ariver nearby where i can wash it offf.. do you want to come?" Midnight traslated as best as she could and i ruffled her little forlock and she whinnied and nipped my sleeves

Nikita looked at them and nodded she didn't know where she was or where to go so best to follow someone who did

when we got there Midnight streak instantly jumped in while i rolled my trousers up and got a piece of cloth out of my shoulder bag and took my shoes and bag off as well as my socks...
"Nikita, want to come in?" i asked and put my hand out for her to sniff... the water was completely clear and pure... Midnight was too busy chasing the fish

i put the cloth in the water and started to wash off the blood

Nikita flinched and raised her head quickly her ears pressed tightly against her head she looked at Leo with her untrusting ees but didn't move

i stoped and put my hand on her nose and lowered her head before letting her sniff my hand again..."i won't hurt you, don't worry"

Nikita let out a breath and started to relax her ears coming forward slightly as she sniffed her hand she nickered and stood in the water her eyes half closed

i smiled as Midnight began splashing Niita trying to help get the blood off whinnying happily as she did...
i kept gently washing the blood offf careful not to hurt her as soon as i finished i risned the cloth out and sat down with my feet in the water "play!, Play!" said Midnight splashing us both...

Nikita raised her head as she got splashed and smiled at the little filly...she hadn't played since her mum died and now the small filly wanted to play with her, Nikita nipped her rump softly and started to trot through the water throwing her head forward she nickered and looked at Midnight

Midnight jumped when she was niped and whirled round smiling and whinined playfully and tried to nip her mane by rearing up and tugging some of it and then troting around in circles before sitting in the water slightly dizzy but just as hyper as ever.. i giggled slightly watching them play...

Nikita laughed and started to canter around the filly, her strides long and loping, creating huge splashes in the water. Her coat was dripping with water making it a brighter white and her golden mane and tail stood out more. She stopped, reared and gave a small buck before calmly walking over to Leo

i laughed as a dizzy little Midnight came over and lay beside me falling asleep.. i stoke the wet caot gently and looked up to Nikita..."feeling better?"

Nikita warily took her muzzle and put it in Leo's hand and blew out a breath softly

i kept still so i didn't frighten her.."that must have hurt a lot?, atleast your free of them now, what do you plan to do?"i asked

Nikita nickered, she liked this girl, her sweet voice made her calm and she helped her and didnt hurt her. She stepped out of the river and stood beside her and nudged her, she wanted to do something for Leo so she got down on her front knees and nickered for her to get on her back

"you want me to get on?" i said as i stood up and carefully climbed on gripping some strands of the mane and stroking her neck as i got on...

Once Leo was on Nikita started to stand up, she was a little nervous remembring the last time someone rode her but she trusted her she nickered as she stared to walk forward crossing the river

i sat up straight gripping the mane tightly looking around....
