Guardians of the Divine Tree [OPEN]

There once was a bird, who lived in a tree,
And a girl, whom did wish to be like thee,
With wings to fly, so ever free,
How could she, come to be,


With wings of black, and talons so sharp,
Came a winged creature, of a feathered dark,
To take the child, far away from her lark,
To a place so concealed, yet hark,

A shrill cry, from the deep,
Of the cavernous, dark keep,
Could one hear the cries, as a new arrival did leap,
Into the safest den, one could seep,

To find a girl, laid out before,
On a table of stone, as told in lore,
To become one with a dying soul, so both could live forevermore,
When awakens, should she find herself sore,

A new pair of wings, for one to find,
Helps one to escape, from a tight bind,
With limbs so feathered, so darkly lined.
Sent out on first watch, to dine,

So should she live, in feathered and taloned embrace,
She'll find a male, with the lightest of face,
To brighten her life, as she was given the lace,
When the time should come, it's left as a race,

One of intimacy, and sweet love,
With her male, as light as a white dove,
Together, they'll nest above,
The shelter of their first, in love,

The story that this poem inspired is one of intimacy, hardships and fate. Two star-crossed lovers, one was born of noble blood, the male of whitest feathers. And the other, born and transformed from another being, the she of darkest feathers and talon. The main species in this story is Hippogryphs and Gryphons. The male is a Gryphon. The female, a Hippogryph. Forbidden, species-crossed, star-crossed lovers that met at a young age because of war between the two species. They believe their love will end it all. Usher in a new age of peace. Hopefully, anyway.
