Goodbye (Poem)

I saw you were getting tried and slowing down
And knew a cure could not be found
I still had hope and continued to pray
But in the end God took you away
With tear filled eyes and a broken heart
I knew it was time for you to depart
I watched you heart of pure gold slow
And felt my heart lay low
God whispered "Come home , My child you know I only take the best"
Then your hard working hands were put to rest
And though I loved you dearly I could not make you stay
I knew you were ready to go without delay
God put His arms around you and carried you home
I felt abondoned, but I was not alone
As I saw your last breath and watched you leave
I asked God to hold me too and to help me believe
To help my faith to grow stronger
And my pain grow weaker
Mama, I miss you and long for the day
That I will see you again and we can kneel and pray
I wait for the day when we meet in Heaven's pure light
And say "I love you" and hold each other tight
