Runaway Filly

~Katara~
I gallop as fast as my long but scrawny legs would let me. My white and black spotted coat shimmered in the sun. My back burned from staying out long, but I was in a hurry.
I scanned the meadow I had just entered. Momma? I kept thinking but there was no one. I galloped on, my legs starting to ache.
My mother and I were out for a walk, when a pack of wolves came after us. One of them...one of them made my mother fall. She told me to run...so I did.
It's been almost a week now, and I haven't seen any trace of her. I'm terrified...
Where's my momma?!

All of the sudden, my only brown leg gave out from under me. I landed with a thud in the middle of the soft grass. I snorted and tried to get up, but I must've sprained my ankle, because I only felt pain.
I rested my head against the cool grass, tears running down my cheeks.
Great. Now how am I supposed to find momma? Maybe I should just wait here...and die.

~Enrico~
I hear someone, or something, enter, and throw my head up, nostrils flared. Across the meadow I see another foal and I relax ever so slightly, fliking my tail and pacing. I whinnie loudly, calling my sister and Salero to me as I look at the other foal.

~Salero~
I watch the foal fall, shifting uneasily. I wanted to go see what was wrong, to help her, but Enrico's voice called me to him. I shivered slightly and stood beside him, a little behind, and peeked out behind his broad shoulders, my brown and white splotched coat gleaming with health in the sun.

~Desiderio~
Even before Enrico had noticed the filly, I myself had. I jump up upon the rock I stood beside, head high as I watch her come in at a gallop, fall, and not get up. I whinnie to her, my high pitched voice echoing around the valley we were in. I hear Enrico call me, but as usual, I ignore him as I jump down from the rock I was standing upon and canter over to the filly with ears pricked forward.
"Are you alright?" I ask, sliding to a stop a few feet away from her, ears prickedd forward as I look down at her slim form. I dilate my nostrils, catching her scent and storing it in a part of my brain so I would always remember it. I smile kindly down at her.
"I am Desiderio, call me Dez if you wish," I say to her.

~Sarah~
i was in the area when i herd something fall i through my head up in the air and told my foal to get behind my *it may be a stallion fight.* i told Fin, my little colt. i walked from the trees to where i heard the sound. what i saw was a little filly lying in the grass and i could see that she was in pain. i walked up to the filly and said *it will be alright.*

Desiderio~
I snort when I see the mare come up and rear, my spindly forelegs beating the air as I spin and run back to my brother and our new sister, who we had found wandering alone. Enrico met me half way, along with Salero, and he shook his head at the mare and her foal.
"Who are you," Enrico said, acting as brave as he possibly could.

i see the 3 other foals and say *hello there i aam sarah.* i pushed my colt in front of me and say *this is Fin. i looked at the first foal that had fallen and asked *what happened?* i walked over to the fallen Filly and helped to try to get her up.

~Katara~
I stare wide eyed at the mare and all the other colts and fillies, my sides heaving.

~Enrico~
I snort at the mare and her foal, ignoring the filly.

~Salero~
I watch the filly from behind Enrico.

~Dez~
I snort and prance back over to the filly.
"It's okay, Enrico always acts like this," I say, rolling my eyes and nudging her gently with my nose.
"Are you okay?" I ask, worried.

~Katara~
I flinch at his touch and stumble to my feet. I wince as I put pressure up on my ankle, but I knew I'd have to bare it...you know, in case I had to run...
Shaking my tiny foal mane, I stared at the others, finally finding my voice. "I'm Katara...no I'm not alright."

{Dez and Salero are girls, Enrico a boy lol...}

~Dez~

I snort softly.
"What happened? Is there anything I can do to help?" I ask anxiously, taking a step back as Salero came up beside me, despite Enrico's snort.

[sorry..]

~Katara~
I looked around. "I need to find my mom..."

[no problem, I do it too ]

Salero~
"What does she look like?" I ask, coming to a stop beside Dez.

~Katara~
I shrug. "I...I don't really remember. Spotted like me, I guess."

Enrico~
I snort.
"Haven't seen her," I say curtly. I turn to Salero and Dez.
"Can we go now?" I demand.

Salero/Dez~
We look at him at the same time.
"No!" we say at once. We turn back to Katara.
"Maybe we can help you find her," Dez said, and Salero nodded.

Enrico~
I sigh exasperatedly and lay down in the grass.

~Katara~
I smiled slightly. "Really?"

Salero~
I smile.
"Of course!" I say, then glance back at Enrico.
"I mean-"

Enrico~
I cut her off.
"Yeah, sure," I say, standing up. I shake off on my spindly legs and walk over to them.

Dez~
I smirk, happy with myself, and lay down. Things always seemed to happen the way I wanted them to.

~Katara~
I dip my head to Enrico, obviosly getting the vibe that he was going to lead the group. "You don't look pleased with me...is there something wrong." I said flirtily.

Enrico~
I bristled slightly.
"Not with you," I say, turning and walking over to the rock. I jump onto it and face away from them.

Salero~
I watch her, surprised, and lay beside Dez.

~Katara~
I flicked my ears and looked at Dez. "I think he hates me..." I whispered and then lied down, resting my ankle.
My eyes wandered around the clearing and rested on Enrico. Something about him amused me. Maybe it was his bad ass attitude.

~Dez~
I smile.
"Don't take it personally, I think he hates everyone but me and Sals," I say.

~Salero~
I flick my eyes open and glare at her.
"Don't call me that," I snap.

~Dez~
I smile and laugh.
"Enrico calls you that," I say.

~Salero~
I grumble and close my eyes, ignoring her.

~Dez~
I chuckle, looking over at Katara again.

~Enrico~
I feel her eyes on me and swing my head around, glaring at her. I jump down from the rock and graze, ignoring the three.

~Katara~
I flinch and then look at Dez and Sal. "Why don't you like Sal?"

~Dez~
I look at her, surprised and confused.
"I do like Sal, she's like my sister, and I love her and look out for her. I just like to tease about her and Enrico, but it's just teasing, and she knows it," I say, not sure how to explain it.
"It's like two sisters who always pick on each other, but we never mean it. We do it to each other," I say, confusing myself, and laugh lightly.

~Salero~
I try to ignore them but open my eyes and laugh lightly as I listen to her explain, and nod.

~Katara~
I let out a laugh. "No, I was talking to Sal asking her why she doesn't like the nickname. " I stood up wincing as I put pressure on my ankle again.

Dez~
I smile and laugh.
"Ohh," I say, laughing.

Salero~
I look at her.
"I just don't," I say, not in a mean tone, just stating that I didn't want to talk about it. I shake my growing mane and stand up, trotting over to Enrico, who still seemed to be in a bad mood.

~Katara~
I let out a sigh and look at Dez. "So where are your parents then?"

Dez~
I look at her and my body stiffened slightly.
"I haven't seen them since the flood that drove me and my brother, Enrico over there, out of our valley," I say quietly.
"I don't even know if they lived..." my voice trailed off.
