This weekend, like always, 17 year old Acacia was left alone, as her aunt went to the coast with yet another one of her many 'boyfriends.' It was Friday, and school had just ended for two weeks due to Winter break, and lioe previous years, no plans were made except to sit at home and read a few books. Acacia was a bit of a loner. She was quiet, and didnt talk to anybody, so nobody talked to her, she kept to herself, and all that mattered to her were her grades. She had never had a boyfriend before, never even kissed anybody, though guys were usually all over her. She didn't know why, but the thought of her even talking to a boy just sounded terrifying, she was always too worried on what they might think, because of her being a nerd with no friends.

Acacia arrived home from school and her aunt had already left, the grand house was eerie and empty. Winx, her loyal puppy, followe her around the house at her heels. Acacia went to her bedroom and plopped on her bed, staring at her hands. She thought about her day, and remembered how she heard some girls talking about a sort of get together at the local grill. Though Acacia hated every bit of socializing, she was intrigued by this event for some reason. She stood up and stripped put of her school clothes, and squeezed herself into some short shorts and an oversized homemade tank top. She curled her long blonde hair and added a bandana on top. She stared at herself in the mirror, and laughed and shook her head. What was she doing? Apparently going to a party. A party. To meet people. Her eyes widened and she shuddered a bit at the though, but she grabbed a pair of black combat boots and shuffled them onto her feet as she made her way toward the front door.

She inhaled deeply, closing her eyes and breathing for a second. This was a big step for her, suddenly growing the will to not spend a night at home alone like she did all the time. She bent down to scratch her puppy's head. "i'll be back no later than 10." She smiled at the dog, who wagged her tail and attempted a squeaky bark. Acacia straightened out her shirt and grabbed her keys, heading out to the front yard. She climbed into her old white mustang GT, and turned the ignition. She sat in her car for a while, staring at her hands, a strong part of her screaming to just go back inside, but she backed out of the driveway and rolled down the street, driving herself to the grill.

She pulled into the parking lot at about 6 o clock, and not too many people were there, but enough to at least give Acacia goosebumps. She turned her car off and sat there, staring at the enterance to the restaraunt as a group of familiar looking girls from her school walked through the door. Acacia bit her lip with nervousness. What were people going to say? Would they even talk to her? Was this worth it? She breathed in and climbed out of her car, and walked toward the doors. She closed her eyes and opened the door, stepping inside to the sound of music and talking teenagers. Oh this was going to be hell.

Some turned their heads to watch as Acacia made her way through the enterance, but she kept her head straight and made no eye contact. Her eyes eagerly searched for an open place to sit, but it appeared that everybody was kind of just melting together and sharing tables. She noticed a group of four stand and leave a booth in the corner, and Acacia quickly walked over to the table, sliding herself into the squishy booth. She sat by herself. Hers was the only table that wasnt packed full of people. She relaxed a little, but always tensed up when people would walk by or look at her.

A waitress came over and leaned over the table, Acacia glanced up at her, eyes soft. "anythin to drink?" The waitress bad a strong New Yorkian accent. Acacia shrugged. "Uhhh sure just a Sierra Mist ." The waitress gave her a faint 'Thats all!?' Look but Acacia ignored her so she just nodded and came back with her soda a couple minutes later.

Acacia sat all alone at her little booth for a good half hour, and then more people began to make their way through the enterance of the grill, and it slowly began filling up. Acacia's table was soon the only one with room, so she scooted coose and snuggled up to the corner wall, slightly terrified of any people who might try to share her booth.
