Starlight's Quest. (Willz)

"You bet I did..." I teased, my tail wagging happily. "And you know girls are more dominant. Grrrr." I growled playfully, then got off him. "I was one of the strongest in my litter... Out of my 1 sister and 2 brothers. My sisters name was Sky. My brothers were Nuka and Arrow." I explained, my beloved family. "I have my fathers strong and muscular body. But I have my mother feisty personality." I added, getting a little off of our original topic. "Ridge... I have to tell you something." I whispered. "My siblings were killed, not long after my mother was. I miss them." I whined, as I felt something wet on my cheek.
'A tear?' I thought. I barely ever cried. But this was my family we were talking about... The family I lost when I was only 10 months old. "What happened to your family?" I asked, and snuggled into his thick chest fur.

Ridge licked the tear away before smiling softly. "My family was awful," he explained. "They were always calling me weak. That was, until, my father came home. We were all about one years old, staying with my mother since she was getting old. My father challenged us, since he wanted our territory for his new mate and pups. I took him one." I licked a scar that was on the side of my muzzle. "I managed to get out with a few wounds, but my father.... we found his body a moon later. He was mauled by a bear." I shook my head. "Sad stuff. But he deserved it. Later, we found the pups dead. Killed by some rogue. Later, his former mate joined our pack. My brother became mates with her, and they left us one day. Never saw them again."

Ridge lifted himself and padded away, too wrapped in his memories to look at his mate.

I listened to his story closely before he padded off, and I whined for him to come back. "Ridge... Don't go." I cried, and nuzzled his neck softly.

Ridge pulled back. "I need some time to myself," he whispered, walking off.

A tear slipped off of my nose, and it started to rain. I padded back to our den, and listened to the thunder and lightening. Soon I went to find Ridge, and ended up on a Cliffside. Stepping out onto a branch hanging there to get a better look, the branch snapped and I tumbled to the ground, yelping loudly then lay unconscious.

Ridge pricked his ears at the yelp. "Starlight!" he cried. He slid down the cliffside with ease, and he found her motionless body. Ears flattened, he sniffed at the limp bundle of fur. He tilted his head back and let out a mournful howl.

My ears twitched at the sound, and I attempted to lift my head, but failed. "R-Ridge..." I whispered, and licked his paw.

His eyes widened, and he covered her muzzle with licks.

I licked him back on the ears, and bravely bushed myself to my paws, though it hurt. "Lets go to the den." I said, and walked there with him in a slight limp.

The path back was steep and winded around in a deep circle. I helped Starlight by nudging her in front of me when the path got too narrow, and we eventually made it back up.

(Whoop! Another time skip! xD)

It has been 3 weeks and I felt a bulge in my stomach, that Ridge didn't know of. Padding towards him, I smiled. "Ridge, I have something to tell you." I whispered. "I'm expecting your pups." I whispered a bit louder this time.

Ridge pricked his ears and looked at his mate, eyes wide. "B-but," he stammered. "I... I'm so happy!" He leaped to his paws and covered her face with licks and nuzzles before giving her bulging belly a lick.

"I am to Ridge. Now could you calm down before your tail falls off?" I joked, and licked his face as well. Though Ridge was my mate, I never lost my fierceness.

Ridge wagged his tail once. "I'll go hunting," he declared, and bounded off.

"Alright. I'll sleep." I barked and laid down.

Ridge managed to catch a rather young buck, and brought it back to Starlight. Its legs were long and bony, and the fur on its neck was thick and a dark shade of brown. A small pair of horns was sprouting just slightly below it's ears. "It might not be enough," he warned. "It's pretty young."

(ANOTHER time skip! To the birth! )

Ridge was out hunting, when I started giving birth to the pups. -Whatever time later- My pups were born, finally. A female with Ridge's fur, and my green eyes. 2 males with my white pelt, but with amber eyes. "Its a shame, my 'mate' wasn't here to see them born." I snarled lightly, and cleaned the pups.

I returned back empty-pawed. "What-" My eyes widened and I looked at the three pups. "They're beautiful," I whispered. I noticed Starlight was glaring at me. "What's wrong?"

"You didn't come when I howled." I growled and turned back to the pups to lick them. "Hunting or not, I howled for you to come home." I whined fiercely, my ears laced to my head.

I narrowed my eyes. "I didn't hear a howl," I growled. Well, I had heard one, and it had scared off my prey. But it had been very faint, and I assumed it was far away.

"Still... You didn't come." I shot back, not making eye contact with my mate.

I bared my teeth at her. "You know," I snapped, "you make such a big deal over the most smallest things." I turned my back on my mate and stalked off.

"Are you saying having pups is one of the smallest things? Their pups, Ridge!" I half cried, but half snapped. If Ridge wouldn't be here to help look after the pups, then so be it. A tear slipped down my cheek.

I growled. "No. I'm just saying that because I wasn't here, doesn't mean I don't care."

A couple more tears slipped down. "Oh why do I have to be so hard-headed and short-tempered." I whined, my emerald green eyes splashing with sadness.
