Willy

Willy Walked slowly across the road. He turned a corner and saw another dog feeding from a trashcan. Willy slowly approached, hoping to get something from the trashcan. He knew that strays are very protective of their food, because there hardly is any, but Willy proceeded anyways, hunger pushing him to do so.

(also, he looks pretty fat here, so just pretend he is skinnier)

Mal pricked her ears and turned her head. She growled possessively and placed a paw on top of the half-eaten hot dog she had just been snacking on. "Get out of here!" Mal spat, hackles raised.

Willy shied away, baring his teeth in defense. He waited untill the other stray had turned her head back into the garbage can, and willy slowly crept back up behind her.

Mal grabbed a half eaten sausage and pulled it out. She trotted off, eating the sausage as she went.

Willy nosed the wrappers in the trash can. he snuffled as he sniffed for any scraps. There was nothing as he had expected. Willy trotted off to maybe beg at an outdoor restaurant.

Mal watched him go with a snort. "You'll never survive in the wild," she yowled after him mockingly. "Housepet!"

When willy heard the stray dog's sassy and unprovoked and unnecessary comment, anger stabbed at his stomach. "your kidding right?" he spit back. "just look at yourself!" Willy growled back at her from a distance. "looks who's talking" He added on a little less directed at her this time.

Mal narrowed her eyes at him. "Come and say that closer to me, housepet!" she spat, claws digging into the hard stone beneath her paws.

"what are you, challenging me?" Willy was normally a very friendly dog, but when he was insulted, or his pride was on the line, he had no tolerance. Willy lowered himself into a crouching position, and slowly stalked closer to the dog. His fur was raised, ear flattened, and tail raised, trying to intimidate the opponent.

Mal bared her teeth. "What's wrong?" she sneered. "Your humans aren't here to help you?"

"what is your problem!?" Willy viciously barked out at her face. he kept barking at her in fury. Willy was normally peaceful, so he did not attack her, just ferociously barked at her, hoping to startle her.

Mal laughed. "Barking won't save a soul, kid." With the flick of her tail, she padded off.

Willy couldn't come up with a comeback, but rage still boiled inside of him. He would find a way to show that stray who she was really messing with.

(so you want them to end up being friends or enemies? should he force her? hurt her? befriend her or what?)

Mal padded down the stone path, her tail curled. She had shown that stupid housepet. If they crossed paths again, she wouldn't be so friendly.

(okay, i thought this was gonna be a friendship topic. i was off. but im totally fine with what happens.)

Willy trotted away. he slipped under a car to shelter himself form the blazing Texas sun. He rested his head, closed his eyes, and tried to fall asleep, but hinger kept pinching at his stomach, and he couldn't fall asleep. He crawled out from the car and went to an outdoor restaurant and began to beg. Someone dropped a pickle and a hamburger bun to him, and he wolfed it down. then a waiter came and started hitting him with a broom. Willy trotted out of range of the broom, and then walked away, in a very solemn mood.

(hm.. maybe they become friends when she decides to forgive him or something?)

Mal padded down the sidewalk, her paws burning every time her pads touched the sizzling sidewalk. The sausage she ate seemed like a million hours ago. She followed a scent towards a restaurant and spotted the male dog from earlier walking away from it. She snorted as the scent of food wafted from him, and her belly tightened. "What did they give you?" she asked sharply.

"why dont you find out?" Willy snapped at her. "if your capable of it" willy added under his breath. he trotted farther from the stray he clashed with.

Mal bared her teeth at him, but decided he wasn't worth it. She nudged over one of the trash cans, and it fell over. She eagerly nudged through it, but she only found empty wrappers and cups filled with sticky liquids. Mal leaped backwards as a broom smacked her in the head. "Two strays in one day!" the waiter said, exasperated. She snarled at him, and he swatted at her with the broom. "Shoo, shoo!" Mal grabbed one of the wrappers and raced away. "I'm calling animal control!" the waiter yelled after her. Like I care, she growled. She ducked into an alley and snuffed through her prize.

Willy decided to go visit another dumpster. then he would be able to take a mid day nap. it was very hot and he would have to retreat from the heat soon. He picked up the pace and trotted to a dumpster, sniffing around the base of it, hoping someone missed.

Mal found nothing in the wrapper except for a few crumbs. Whining, she licked them up before padding over to a dumpster. She crawled underneath it and curled up, the coldness making her sigh.

When sniffing the dumpster, willy sniffed a familiar and unpleasant scent. he payed no attention to her and continued to look for a scrap of food.
