Claiming (PG13)

A massive male cave lion smelt the air of his new territory, he was very pleased. The frozen forest seemed perfect to him. Opening his maw he roared loudly signaling his claim, he couldn't wait for lionesses to join him. Walking forward he began to hunt, tracking a bunny. Suddenly he broke out into a fast paced run. His stomach grumbled so loudly it sounded like a small storm coming from the distance.

Sandra lifted her heavy and wide head. her pink nose twitched as she beckoned the new arrivals scent into her damp nostrils. The scruff on her neck hung loosly below her streched neck. she took a step forward. As she did so, the scruff between her two front legs moved from side to side. she took long and graceful strides. her big feet padded along the rocks. her ears twiched as she felt the deep rumbling roar vibrate in her eardrums. she picked up the pace, and was eager to meet this male. She lifted head alertly when she caught a glimpse of him.

The cave lion male felt furious when the sent of a fresh kill hit his nose and loudly with anger he roared a warning and stated that this was his land. He set out forgeting all about the bunny, the prey thieft was much more important to him. Arsh moved his massive body on but stopped at the edge of his land and realized that it wasn't his own prey tooken for a land before him of a vast unclaimed hunting area laid. Letting out another roar he claimed a section of it as his hunting grounds. With a sigh he laid down in the snow. It crunched beneath him and he laid his head down sleeping with both eyes half open.

Sandra crouched behind a rock as the male came closer. When the male lion layed down on the cliff, Sandra turned around and began to gingerly sneak down the hill. She didnt dare make a sound. Suprizing a territorial male was almost fatal. Sandra carfully avoided rocks, bolders, and also avoided slipping as she decended down.

The cave lion's sensative ears picked up a slight crunch in the snow. Slowly in atempt to be unoticble he rose his head and deeply inhaled, snow, pine, lion, female, prey all came to his nose as he thought naming them, wait what? Lion? Arsh quickly jumped up and focused on the faint sent then settled and let out a low friendly roar to her welcoming her to aprouch. "Hello?" He then bellowed scanning the area about him. Knowing it was only a female he say calmly, he was much larger and powerful then any female....all males where unless old or starved...or even sick. He roared again then quited waiting full of curiousity.

Sandra froze in her tracks when she heard a low roar erupt from behind her. Her instincts kicked in, and she began to sprint down. His "hello" was drowned in the sound of the wind rushing through her fuzzy ears.

Arsh turned looking at her as she dashed off and imeadently fallowed,"Wait!" He yelled. He didn't mean to startle her and felt had about it. She had gotten a good head start on him and he wasn't too site he'd catch up with her. "Wait!" He yelled again much lowered and more comanding then before.

A sharp "wait" cut through to her ears. It was coming from behind her. She slowed down to a soft trot, then turned around. The male wasnt displaying any signs of aggression, so she stopped and turned to face him. She wagged her tail in agitation. Her head was low in submission.

Arsh froze when she stoped and turned, spraying snow up and all around them, "I didn't mean to scare you miss, sorry. I'm Ardeshir, would you like to join me? I'm starting a pride here but, of course, I need females." He spoke gentle and with a charming strange unidenfiable acient. His tail swooshed and twitched nurviously as he paicently awaited her answer.

Sandra was temped by his offer, but she was more solitary than a pride tiger. She considered it for a second, and then replied, "sure". She would have to adjust. Maybe there are benefits to being a pride tiger. She would find out.

Arsh smiled and said " Fallow me" and took her to the sleeping den, "This is where we'll sleep, you may, if you want, stay here or come with me on a hunt." He said turning and setting off determined and happy. He had his first female! Joy dance in his heart and more confadence filled him.

"ill just stay here" Sandra said. She wanted to make herself comfortable in her new home. Anyways, she knew that it would be that time of the year again very soon and she didnt want to go wondering around all over the place spreading her scent. Then the thought occured to her. "hey!" she called to him when he turned off to go hunting. "you never told me your name!"

"Ardeshir! But call me Arsh!" He yelled over his shoulder now a mere don't on the horizen. Looking ahead he took off to go hunting. Entering his new hunting grounds quitley he stalked a Lime buck, his hunting grounds where strange, a mix of winter and summer for the large field was the pathway to the Redwoods. Arsh was careful to stay in the white patches before springing up and starting the chase. He used a lot of strength but after then minutes or so caught up to the buck and pouced bighting it's back. The small young stag tell due to the wieght and he walked on it to it's neck and bit down on the jugular and held till the squarming animal died. Starting the long haul home he tossed it on his back.

Nearly 30 minutes passed till he reached the den and slid the prey down and off himself. Hastily he began munching, eating fast as if he was starved, about to have his good stolen, or something. Once his till was done he walked awsy from the kill so Sandra could eat.

"thank you" Sandra said. "by the way. my name is Sandra" She said as she stood up and moved over to the carcass. She crouched down again, digging her face into the hearty meat of the diaphragm. When she was done, she rolled onto her back playfully, feeling good filling her stomach. She then felt quite lethargic, and got up and walked outside.

"Intresting name" Arsh comited then watched as she are. When she walked out he arose to go play at the entrance and watch her, curiously. Resting his head on paws he half closed his eyes lazily.

Sandra stopped at the entrance of the cave and looked around. She spotted a suitable tree. She walked up to the trunk, looked up, deciphering it, then bounded up the tree. She lay in a thick branch, and drifted off, the warmth of her tan coat protecting her from the harsh winter winds.

Arsh watched her before his heavy eyelids began to droop soon closing. He started his catlionnap peacfuly. He dram only of good things, inclueding feature cubs and the exspantion of the pride. He sleot for over a your then started to stirr uneasily.

Dawn rose, turning the sky a blood red. Sandra awoke too, giving a big yawn, sounding like an echoing roar. she extended her front feet in front of her and unretracted her claws, stretching her entire body. Sandra stood up and carefully descended down the non vertical part of the trunk facing forwards, and then leaped to the ground. Sandra rubbed against her partner and suggested they go for a hunt.

Arsh stood yawning, his pink tounge curling as he stretched his body. He nodded and gemtly rubed agents her in response then beagn walking towards the hunting grounds. His hungery throbbed with in him. His belly grumpled quitley.

Sandra led the way. Every minute or so though she would rub against trees and bushes and rocks. Sandra hid further back while Arsh hunted. Then she began to roar every few secnds, beckoning him back to her.

Arsh went out then turned calling for her to come hunt with him, a small group of horses where about but he had his eyes on wolf...he felt threatened by it and wanted to kill it. Slowly he stalked up nearing it inch by inch.

Sandra joined Arsh, crouching. She waited for Arsh's signal to pounce.
