Ddger returned the nuzzle and gazed at the moon and stars. "Let's get on the beach and out of the water." He said. Dodger laid down with Saddie, their sides basically touching.

She followed him and rested her head on his back. "Can we go back to the jungle tomorrow? I'd like to go exploring."

Dodger smiled, "Of course. I'd like to explore a bit myself." Dodger replied, gazing up at the stars. He sighed silently at the memory of his brave father, who wore his dog tags before Dodger.

She yawned and snuggled closer. "I can't wait." She drifted off to sleep.

Dodger smiled and fell asleep next to her.

Saddie woke up the next day and looked around.

Dodger's eyes fluttered open as he heard stirring. He yawned and gazed over at Saddie. "Buenos días Saddie." He yawned in Spanish, meaning 'Good morning'

Saddie cocked her head. "Uh, hi I guess." She stood and shook out her pelt. "You ready to go exploring?"

"Totally. Let's go." Dodger replied.

At the jungle Dodger gazed around as he heard different sounds and noises.

Saddie stayed closed to his side as she sniffed at the nearby plants and ferns. "Do you think that there's tigers in here?"

Dodger laughed. "No. Tigers don't live in Mexico."

She heard a twig crack up ahead and yelped. She hid behind him. "What about Big Foot?"

"Big Foot? You actually believe Big Foot exists?" Dodger teased, nudging her. "Of course not. Besides. I'M the one that stepped on the stick." Dodger told her.

"Oh." She blushed. "Okay then." She still kept a weary eye on her surroundings. She yelped when she heard a faint growling but sighed when she realized that it was only her stomach. "Do you know what most dogs eat when they're in the jungle?"

"Oh, fresh kill I believe. Sometimes berries or something." Dodger replied, glancing around. "Hmm... Maybe we should have gotten breakfast before-" He was cut off by the smell of hotdogs. "Hello." Dodger whispered to himself, follwing the scent. It lead to the beach, and he begged. Dodger was given 4 hotdogs. "Hey, Saddie! C'mon!"

Saddie dashed after him and sniffed the hotdogs in his mouth. "Those smell wonderful!" she exclaimed and sat down, ready to eat.

Dodger dropped two for her and ate his own in the matter of seconds before they were finished. 'Does she love me?' Dodger thought to himself.

She gulped down her hotdogs in four bites and licked her chops. She sniffed the ground to make sure that she got it all before she looked expectantly at Dodger.

Dodger gazed over at a Doberman. "Hmmm..." He growled, narrowing his eyes at the Doberman. Dodger's eyes widened. "Saddie. Go. Hide." He ordered, nudging her in a bush. The Doberman snarled and bared his fangs. The Doberman's name was Desoto. Dodger and Desoto lunged at eachother, their collided bodies ripping at eachother wildly. But Dodger was knocked out. When he came back to his consciousness, all he saw was Desoto taking Saddie away. "No... No." He whispered, struggling to his paws.

"Get over there!" Desoto snarled at Saddie, shoving her to the ground. "Now listen, senorita. You will bare my pups. If you go looking for help, I will kill you. Along with that street wise mutt, Dodger!" Desoto warned her. "If you think I'm going to be gentle, you are terribly wrong." He growled, shoving his tool into her entrance without a warning. He greedily pounded into her wildly, his claws digging into her sides.

Saddie opened her mouth to respond but she quieted when she whined. She tried to struggle from his grip, tears forming in eyes. "Dodger!" she cried.

Dodger dashed over. He raced towards them and pulled Desoto off of Saddie, tearing into his flanks.

The battle ended with Dodger sending Desoto away. He rushed towards Saddie and covered her face with licks. Thankfully he did not release into her. "Are you OK?"

Saddie whimpered and tucked her tail in between her legs. She licked Dodger's soft chest fur and cuddled up next to him. "I- I think so," she said.

Dodger rested his head on Saddie's flank, his dark brown eyes flaring with rage. How could Desoto be so harsh to someone so innocent.
