Saddie laid there in silence for a bit. "At least he wouldn't have been able to get me pregnant," she said finally.

Dodger nodded and tried to smile. But then, Desoto grabbed Dodger by the neck and chucked him into a tree. Dodger hit his head and fell to the ground before Desoto took off away from them.

"Dodger!" she cried and ran to his side. She licked his face and his new wound. "Dodger!"

Dodger's body was limp. He didn't give an answer. Not even a movement.

(He's not dead, don't worry. xD)

Saddie whimpered and paced back and forth in front of him. She nuzzled him and continued to lick him.

(Okay.)

Dodger opened his eyes. "Saddie..." He rasped, trying to get on his paws.

"Dodger." She licked his face, her tail wagging up a storm. She leaned against him to help him to his feet. "Are you okay? You're not going to die are you?"

"No, I'll be fine." Dodger assured her, getting to his paws. "Saddie. There is something I have wanted to tell you for days now."

She continued to lick the bump on his head. "What's that?"

"Well." He started, taking a deep breath. "For some time now, I have had feelings for you. I just didn't know how you felt back, and I thought, if I told you, we'd never be friends again." Dodger explained.

When she had finished cleaning his wound, she cuddled up under him. "Go on," she said.

"And... I love you, Saddie." Dodger finished, his dark brown eyes clouding with slight shame but more love.

She blinked up at him with large brown eyes. "Is.... Is that true?"

Doder nodded. "If it wasn't true, I wouldn't be saying it." Dodger told her.

She licked his chin and wagged her tail. "Oh Dodger! I haven't been told that in such a long time!"

"So, how do you feel about me?" Dodger asked, trying not to be so forward or rude.

She buried her face in his neck and licked his ears. "I love you too," she whispered.

For the first time in so long, Dodger's tail wagged happily. "I promise to never leave your side." Dodger promised her. Then, he saw Saddie's humans. They came rushing over and hugged Saddie. "Come in. Let's go to your new home in Beverly Hills." The Mistress said to Saddie and kicked Dodger away.

Saddie whined and tried to go to Dodger. She struggled in her Mistress's arms and huddled beside him. She whined and looked at her expectantly.

"Come on, Saddie. Let's go home." Mistress said, petting Saddie's forehead. Dodger whined. "Get away!" Mistress snapped at Dodger.

Saddie stayed stubbornly by his side. Tears came to her eyes as she was forced to choose between two things that she loved. She laid down beside him. "Can he come too, Mistress?"

"Saddie. I'm sorry, but I cant live in a house. Being a street dog is one of the things I love most." Dodger explained. Mistress narrowed her eyes at Dodger. "You must be a friend of Saddie's. What's your name?" Mistress asked. She checked the name on Dodger's military necklace and read the name 'Dodger' "Dodger. That's an unusual name." She laughed. Dodger growled silently. "Mistress is an unusual name, lady!"

Saddie looked at him. "Please don't make me choose. I love you but..... PLease....." She curled closer to him and whined.

"Maybe its best you stay with him. There's too much for me to look over right now anyways." Mistress said to Saddie. Dodger wagged his tail.

Saddie whined when her Mistress had turned to walk away. She couldn't bare it, she couldn't bare to be left behind again. She whined and bolted away. She didn't stop running until she was in the cave behind the waterfall. She collasped on the ground and sobbed.
